At Lexus of Orange Park, we’re dedicated to making sure your vehicle will be on the road and performing optimally for years to come. We understand that changing a flat tire is a little confusing for some drivers, so today, we want to give you some quick and easy Lexus service tips in case you ever experience a blow-out on the road.
Get Out Your Tire Jack
The first step in changing your tire is pulling over so you’re away from busy traffic. All Lexus cars come with a tire jack that is designed to lift up your vehicle so you can change the tire.
However, before you jack up your vehicle, you should use your tire iron to loosen the lug nuts while the tire and wheel are on the ground. Once your Lexus vehicle is jacked up, it will be much harder to break the lug nuts.
Removing the Tire
Once your tire is jacked up, continue to loosen the lug nuts until they detach. Proceed to slide off your wheel and find the spare tire located in the trunk of your Lexus. Secure your spare onto the wheel and tighten the lug nuts with your fingers, but do not tighten them all the way.
Now, you can begin to lower the jack. Once your tire is on the ground, you can use the tire iron to tighten the lug nuts the rest of the way. Having your vehicle’s weight sitting on the tire makes securing your lug nuts easier than ever.
